71799 NINJAGO City Markets

New for summer 2023, we have Ninjago’s biggest set ever, releasing at 6163 pieces. Here is a look at the newest part of the Ninjago modular system.

When you start building, you begin with the first baseplate, which has a 24-hour convenience store that sells lots of things. Next to that is a place for the monorail to go, and next to that is a ramp for figures to get to the monorail.

On the second floor you will find Arin’s Apartment, which consists of a small room and two beds, one for Arin and one for Sora. There is also a balcony on the outside too.

Above the apartment there is a karaoke club, which is run by Dearth. Inside the karaoke club there is a pool table, a stage and a music player. The colour scheme is very nice too, especially the transparent purple.

Above the karaoke club, you will find a sushi shop, which has a giant crab on top. On the other side there is a flushing toilet, which has a little lever that takes brown studs to the bottom of the city.

Second half

Back at the bottom, on the other side, there is a bridge that uses an interesting number of parts and looks beautiful. The first shop on the other side is the bakery, where the interior can come out for easy play access. It also has lots of bread inside.

Next to the bakery you will find a blacksmith shop run by Kai. Inside there is a forge and a transparent orange katana. There is also a trapdoor leading up to Kai’s apartment on the next floor. Kai’s apartment is very hard to access, so we suggest you don’t put any minifigures in it.

Next to Kai’s apartment is Racer 7’s (Blazey H Speed) apartment, which is small and can be easily accessed by removing the interior. There is nothing except a bed in this interior.

On the third floor there is the classic walkway found in Ninjago City sets, as well as another bridge to get over to the other side. Also on this floor there is the other monorail entrance and a lift for wheelchair users.

Beside the monorail there is a Borg store, which spreads over two floors: the first is a shop with phones and tablets in it, and the second is an office with another lift in it.

The monorail consists of a yellow cab attached to a long black pole. The monorail is a bit slow but does the job.

In a Ninjago City set you would expect a good minifigure selection, and this is no exception, with 21 minifigures.
