Before the review begins, I must give a SPOILER ALERT for Ninjago if you have not seen it before.
Overview:
The episode starts at the monastery of spinjitzu where the ninja are training. Soon though, they are interrupted by the postman who has letters for all the ninja except for Zane causing the other ninja to ask why he never gets any thing from his family Zane explains to them that he has been an orphan all his life.
Meanwhile, the Hpnobrai still under the control of Lloyd are bulding a treehouse for him. This causes scales to question the general and he says he may not have the staff but he is still in charge. Back at the monastery the ninja are having dinner and questioning the apron Zane is wearing and laugh at it.
After dinner Zane deposes of the apron and then sees a bird which Zane thinks he might he has a weird connection with the falcon and decides to follow it to where it is going and the sees Lloyd treehouse and runs back to tell the other ninja.
The next morning the four Ninja head to Lloyd’s treehouse and figure out how to destroy it but when trying to destroy it they are spotted and Scales takes control of Cole again forcing him to attack his teammates.
Cole keeps attacking them till he hears the sound of Sacred flute being played by Sensei Wu who is on the back of fire dragon Flame and tells the ninja to hurry back to the monastery to protect the staff but they are too late they return to find the Monastery burnt down. The ninja take there blame out on Zane for leading the but Zane sees the Falcon again and leaves.
In the hypnobrai tomb Scales challenges the general to a round of slither pit where the winner will get the staff and be in charge. While they are battling Lloyd sees a map and takes it in the end the general looses the battle and scales gets to be the general and orders Lloyd to leave.
The ninja who are now homeless are sitting near the monastery’s remains missing Zane but he soon returns to the others with good news that he has found a new place for them to live. The ninja then follow Zane and see a giant ship known as the Destiny’s Bounty which becomes there new home.
Thoughts
We thought this was a very good episode that focused on Zane and his connection with the falcon.

The episode starts in a frosty river where the Ninja are going to retrieve the Shuriken’s of ice. While sailing there, Sensei Wu tells the four Ninja about the tornado of creation the most powerful Spinjitzu move that can lead to disastrous consequences.
Successfully the Ninja, retrieve the shuriken’s of ice move onto the third weapon the Nunchucks of lightning which they successfully obtain. Later that night Kai sees Nya running towards the temple of fire where the Sword of fire is but soon finds out it is a trick and it is Lord Garmadon’s shadow he has also trapped Nya in chains kai takes the sword to free his sister.
Then Garmadon’s shadow starts attacking them luckily Sensei stops him but ends up going to the underworld to stop Garmadon. Meanwhile the other three have had there Golden weapons stolen by Samukai which leads to a vehicle chase the outcome being Jay looses his voice and the skeletons get away.
NOTE THIS IS WHERE THE FOURTH EPISODE BEGINS IN THE US
Having lost the vehicle chase Jay Cole and Zane head back to the Fire temple where they see Kai and Nya on the Fire Dragons back and learn that they can use the other dragon guardians to cross over to the underworld.
Once the Ninja have crossed over, the have another battle with the Skeleton army this time though they use the Tornado of Creation to create a Ferris wheel with cages on to keep the skeletons locked up. they then head into the fortress to see Wu and Samaukai fighting in the end Wu losses.
Samaukai then picks up the sword of fire meaning he has all four Golden Weapons but no one can hold all four at once so samaukai dies and creates a vortex allowing Garmadon to escape the underworld. The ninja and Wu return to the village where the villages are celebrating there return.
Our thoughts:
We really like this episode especially the tornado of creation part
As part of the Ninjago 10th anniversary special Lego did 4 special episodes also known as Season 14 for it as well as four sets this one being the catamarans used by the Ninja and the keepers. The set consists of 780 pieces 6 minifigures and one you have built the set you will have to boats.
The Kai catamaran is the smaller of the two but it still fits a lot of detail in with the side of the boat being able to open up which we think works very well the only thing we don’t like is it is tricky to place a minifigure in the seat.
The keepers Catamaran is split into three pieces to small boats and a big boat the first smaller boat has some crates with gems in and an are to put a minifigure. The seconded gives you an are to trap one of the Ninja which is seen in the show. and the third the larges boat has a giant sail and spring-loaded shooters but are favorite bit is the play feature that goes throughout the set which is very impressive.
Minifigure selection and ranking
The Island wave of set only had 10 different minifigure and this had 6 of them but this set would have done better if it had an exclusive minifigure since the other three sets do here is are rating of the figures

Overall thoughts
It depends really if you need these two boats since all the minifigures come in cheaper sets but if you just want a good boat build i would highly recommend this although is would also recommend saving up and buying a Destiny’s Bounty instead
New for Winter 2024 we have the first ever Ninjago Battle Pack which is a really good one
the set contains 78 pieces 4 minifigures and once you are done building you will have a small mech for jay.
the mech itself uses the NEXO knights cockpit which just a bout fits jay in the uses mixel joints on the arms and legs one thing we liked about the mech is that you can put Jay’s Katana’s on the back.
Minifigures
The mech is not the reason you should buy the set but the minifigures which are outstanding. The first minifigure you get is Jay in his mech pilot suit this is a really nice suit that we hope appears in Dragons Rising Season 2.
The next minifigure is one of our favorites being Master Lloyd taking in the footsteps of Master Wu. Lloyd firstly has a recolour of his Island hairpiece in light green which we think is a good choice we also like the design on his torso and legs. the only downside though is Lloyd’s headpiece which is the the same as the movie.
On the villains side we have a wolf mask claw warrior who has a brand new mask piece which we hope coms in lots of other sets to come. The other villain is Wolf mask warrior who is identical to the other villain except for a hood in dark blue.

Price and overall thoughts
for £8.99 this is the set we would recommend the most out of the January wave the price per piece would be £0.11 meaning it isn’t the best piece count for the price but when you take in to consideration a Minifigure typically costs £4 it is a fantastic price
New for Winter 2024 Lego released the seconded wave of Ninjago Dragons Rising sets in those sets they gave us another 4+ set that we think could be one of the best of all time.
Arin’s Battle Mech contains 104 pieces 2 minifigures and once you have completed the set you will have a mech for Arin, A flyer for the wolf warrior, a terrain build and a weapon rack

the top half of the set feels like an EVO mech for 2022 just with the Nexo Knights cockpit piece and the sccbs pieces for the arms. The other half of the mech use the 4+ legs which could be better.
The villain flyer looks a bit weird one you put the minifigure on with nothing around makes you think what they would have done in a bigger set.
The terrain build is our favorite part of the set since it features the collectables the mallet and shield which at the time of writing only come in a £60 set giving you an easier way to get them. the weapons rack is simple but effective giving you an area to place Arin’s Katanas.

Being honest the minifigure selection is not the best featuring Arin with the exact same torso and legs as the previous wave and the wolf warrior is good but comes in lots of other sets here is the ranking

when it comes to four plus sets the price are usually very high but this one is not bad costing £12.99 for 104 pieces making it £0.12 per piece
Overall Review
I would rank this set 8 stars out of 10 the reason being that we do not have a new Arin Minifigure and the villain vehicle could be better i will highly recommend this set if you are not picking up 71809 Egalt the master dragon for the collectables.
